Black + White = Sexy Back!!

As predicted, the monochrome look is back for Spring/Summer 13/14. Designers Marc Jacobs and  Rachel Zoe featured the monochrome look in there collections in this years New York Fashion Shows for s/s 14.

For spring its all about textures, mixing your white chiffon blouse with leather. Experiment with patterns and shapes, don't be afraid to put your very one spin on things. Make the look yours and own it.

Even our very own Aussie designer Manning Cartell featured black and white pieces in his collection earlier this year in Australian Fashion Week.

Confessions of a not so Shopaholic

Many of us have or read the book Confessions of a Shopaholic or have watched the movie. After just finishing watching the movie (on my day off  :)  ) it puts 'fashion' in a perspective.

Big name brands have a heavy price tag and if you are in the world of fashion (especially in the fashion magazine industry) you are 'expected' to wear the heavy tagged items. Which puts all your one month pay slip towards your shiny plastic card.

But if your not in the fashion industry but still love fashion and the shopping experience, 7 out of 10 of people reading this has walked away from the store doors feeling sick of what you just bought. It may look so gorgeous on you but the price is in the back of your mind......just lingering.... You shake the feeling knowing the little bit of shiny plastic in your wallet has just 'saved your life' (for now). The sales assistant smiles and acts like your new bff when she puts through the sale. You feel vivid "on top of the world", when you walk out of those heavy glass doors. You feel confident, in control and happy.

'Rebecca Bloomwood: When I was 7 most of my friends stopped believing in magic. That's when I first started. They were beautiful, they were happy. They didn't even need any money, they had magic cards.'

Yes, Ladies that's what the "shopping experience" is all about. Why do you think they call it retail therapy? You can't exchange a guy the next day for a chiffon blouse. (Probably you could, im sure the retail gals will be most impressed.) But a store is there for you no matter what, if you are having a bad hair day or if you just got fired from a job.

Whats my point? (Im getting to that)

Shopping has its pros and cons:

Pro: It makes you feel happy (Like eating chocolate)

Con: It costs money to shop (tip: don't add up how much you have spent on clothes it might make you cry)

What I am trying to say is that you should enjoy your life, spend your money but be wise. Look at a piece of clothing and really ask yourself "is this a good investment?" Is is going to enhance your look, or make you look meh? Ladies, we don't want meh, we want Fabulous!!! So, next time ask yourself "is it a good investment for me?"

Audrey Hepburn: Style Icon

audrey hepburn, quotes, sayings, woman, love, eyes, lips

Audrey Hepburn

No one has captured the hearts of the fashion industry more than Audrey Hepburn. For decades, her clean style sensibility and radiant grace have inspired many people to this day.

Even after her death in 1993, her status as a style icon still remains. Many people including myself call her the "most stylish woman who ever lived". She inspires me everyday to strive to do my absolute best in the Fashion Industry, and to challenge myself everyday. But she also inspires me to be kinder, passionate and be true to myself. Many people see her as a 'Fashion Icon' but I see her as a Icon.

I have put a collection together of my favourite outfits Audrey has worn in her movies.

Roman Holiday
Sabrina

Funny Face:

My Fair Lady:

Eliza Doolittle: My Aunt died of influenza, or so they said. But its my belief they done the old woman in

How to Steal A Million

Breakfast at Tiffany's

I Love Your Funny Face...Your Sunny...Funny Face....

Audrey Hepburn became an icon and continues to inspire the world of fashion to this day. She is credited with the emergence of a new style, incorporating Wayfarer sunglasses, pearls, the little black dress and the Givenchy look.

No one has captured the hearts of the fashion industry more than Audrey Hepburn. For decades, her clean style sensibility and radiant grace have inspired the likes of Hubert de Givenchy, Salvatore Ferragamo and Isaac Mizrahi, all of whom have tried at some point to translate her spirit into their clothing and accessories.

(My favourite scene in the movie)

Hepburn received an Oscar for best actress for Roman Holiday, then a Tony Award for best actress in the play Ondine. She was nominated for another Oscar for Sabrina and the offers were rolling in, many of which she had to refuse. She dedicated herself to her shooting with Fred Astaire in Funny Face. (One of my personal favourites) But Breakfast at Tiffany's was the movie which made everyone sit up and take notice of her. Her style is effortless and shaped the fashion industry.

Yes she was a fashion icon but her kindness with words struck a cord with everyone. Donating her time to UNICEF helping the children in Africa.

Audrey never thought she was pretty, she consider herself as "funny looking - just another skinny broad" with crooked teeth, thick eyebrows, a bony collarbone, flat chest and huge eight-and-a-half size feet.

She left a lasting impression on the world of fashion, with her perfect and timeless silhouette that has never found an equal.

I thank you Audrey for being an inspiration for me and so many other people across the world.

And Yes Audrey, Paris is ALWAYS a good idea

Trending Now: Monochrome!!!!!!!

Hello my Fellow Fashionistas!!

Its the Monochrome effect!!!! May I just say I am so happy with this trend. Its chic, elegant and can be so edgy.
By adding different textures to your pieces you can take this 'next door girl' look and turn it into a edgy, bad rock chic look!! I love it!!!

I have put together 4 different monochrome outfits!! I hope this gives you the inspiration to embrace this trend from head to toe!!! Enjoy!

Look 1.
Tip: If you find you have more white then black in your outfit then simply add black and textured accessories.

Look 2.

Tip: Have fun mixing your patterns and different textures. Remember a limited colour palette is a licence to mix textures and patterns.

Look 3.
Tip: Embrace printed pants and mixing houndstooth with a rock tee is also very cool with this trend.

Look 4.

Tip: For a clean 90's look wear a little black dress and a white jacket, pair it with statement earrings and you are set to go. Or...go for my option above to create a textured and elegant look.

I hope you have enjoyed my ideas and I also hope you have found inspiration to create your own monochrome trend.

Always With Style,

xoxo
