Meow!!! For Animal Prints!
Back in the spotlight this Autumn 2014 is Animal Prints, they featured on the catwalks across NYC and have Australian retailers in a spin.
I have a confession to make...I'm not a 'huge' fan of animal prints... I know bizarre.. But I did find myself on Sunday (much needed Retail Therapy) hand in hand with a animal printed top.
Everyone's favourite fierce animal pattern comes in a variety of colours and iterations this season. With so many styles and colours its hard not to buy into this trend.
Animal Printed top I purchased on Sunday....
But one thing is for sure: adding a touch of this spotted go-to is always cool.
Here is some animal print inspiration....
If the catwalk is telling us prints...we follow their instructions...
Want to emphasize your cat’s grace? Think wild, bold and luxurious! Think animal prints! Prints imitating reptile skins are ultra-trendy this fall too, coming to help you look expressive, elegant and tough. Leopard prints, tiger stripes, zebra patterns and snakeskin prints are some of the hottest fall 2014 print trends. For inspiration, you can look to Just Cavalli, Tom Ford, Giambattista Valli, Ermanno Scervinno and others. On the other hand, Lanvin decided to bring more extraordinary animal prints, adorning its collection with charming butterfly prints and beetles!

Be My Valentine? or No boyfriend no problem
With Valentines Day around the corner its time to think about what you are going to be wearing on your hot date. But from a fashion perspective we can all agree that Valentines Day can get tacky very fast. My advice pick one or two festive but pretty chic pieces and keep the rest of your look refined. You won't go wrong with these V-Day ideas. You could wear them all year round. No boyfriend? No problem! Get dressed up and go out with your gal pals and let your hair down.
1. Wear a flirty white dress
2. Wear modest red and lace dress with a sweet heart neckline.
3. Not a dress kinda girl? Wear a cute little shorts number. Dress it up with a black silk top and dainty accessories.
4. You can never go wrong with a little black dress. This one is my favourite. Keep the top of your dress high and show your pins.
5. Be Blue. A relaxing colour to wear and try different hemlines.
6. Or if your all loved up go all out. Red, Red, Red.

I am really surprised with DJ'S designs this year, each designer / label bring something contemporary and fresh for Winter 2014. But I also get a giddy feeling when I see new collections launching at any time. Can't wait to shop these looks, when the mercury falls.

How to wear pastels
Hello me fellow fashionistas,
In my last blog post I wrote about how the sugar rush is hitting our wardrobes and in today's post I will be explaining how to wear these sweet candy colours. With the warm weather we are in (Australia) experiment with playful neon's and bold jewel tones with pastel colours. But these soft and girly tones can wash you out if you wear the wrong hues together head to tow. Below these are my tips and tricks to make this very feminine hue refreshing and modern.
1. Mix it with Neutrals
Pair your pastels with beige, whites and grey. It will mellow the look but you will still have the feminine factor.
2. Layer with white.
Add crisp white with pastels especially for office wear. The pastel colours stand out more against white and creates a sophisticated look.
3. Take it to your nails.
What better way to incorporate a colour trend then starting with your nails. Easy to do and looks oh so lovely.
4. Add a contemporary and modern approach.
Think geometric prints, symmetrical lines and box shapes. Find pastel garments which scream future runway chic.
5. Mix in the sport luxe trend.
One of the hottest trends from 2013 - 2014, mix it the luxe sports look with pastels to create a not so feminine, pretty look. So, toughen up its time to go luxe!
6.Pastel Jewellery
Not keen on pastels on you but like these sweet colours? Buy some funky pastel jewellery to add to your wardrobe.
I hope this has inspired you to incorporate these sugar coated hues into your wardrobe.

Pretty Pastels: Trend Report
Everyone went crazy for pretty pastels at New York Fashion week for Spring 2014. Spri.ng's top shades vary from lavender to pistachio and petal pink. Designers have taken the modern approach with these soft hues pairing it with bright colours and clean lines to create a vivid look. The strong colours used mellow the look and can be easily worn from day to night
Hues which will take center stage are Placid Blue, Violet Tulip. Hemlock and Celosia Orange. Light fabrics with pretty pastels are perfect for hot summer days and candy coloured accessories can be toughed up with metallics and black. Burberry and House of Halland showed us why pastels will be our go to colours this season.
Although in Australia we have a a whole year to wait for spring 2014, Europe gets to enjoy it first. But don't threat, retailers in oz seem to have included pastels for winter! Scream.
It looks like its going to be all sweet!

2 Inspiring Fashion Photos
Fashion is more than a model posing for a camera. Fashion is art, fashion is a way of conveying a message about ourselves, through clothing.
Below is two images which pathed the way of fashion photography. Each telling a story behind the lens.
Richard Avedon -Dovima with elephants (1955)
Taken by Avedon at the Cirque d'hiver in Paris. The symmetry between the model and the elephants is divine. The contrast of the rough elephant skin and the smooth fabric with a clean elegant model, alongside dirty elephants. Yet both convey a force in great power.
Published in Harper Bazaar, this negative no longer exists. Its still a mystery till this day.
Nick Knight -Tatjana Patitiz for Jil Sanders (1992)
I remember seeing this photograph when I was 12 years old and it was on the cover of a fashion illustration book. I was drawn to this book across the room as the image captured my imagination.
As I look at the image now in conveys mystery, femineity and sheer artistry. It was beautifully composed and is enchanting. A story behind the image of a young blossoming stardom.

Cuff Love
Are you in cuff love? I am! This trend reached its peak recently for the summer party season. Everyone was asking me where do I buy a arm cuff from? Fashion didn't predict this trend and Australian retailers were unprepared for the demand.
Arm cuffs are brilliant arm candy and they are a season must have! The most 'on trend' style is the snake arm cuff, very exotic and Cleopatra.
Celebrities seen rocking the upper arm candy look last year were Rihanna, Kate Moss and Gwen Stefani.
Definitely can see this trend sticking around until Fall 2014.
