Trend Alert: Headscarves

First it was all about flower power now its all about how to wear that headscarf. Put down your flower headband, instead reach for a scarf.

Headscarves are all the rage at the moment on catwalks and in the celeb world. The Tropicana trend has gone straight to our head, with headscarves featuring tropical prints and bold patterns.

This trend will sure turn heads this Summer.

Who said pink was just for little kids, princesses and a shade which reminds us of child hood? Well not anymore. This week on the runways showcased this delicious shade all over fashion. Pink is back ladies.
From the words of Maggie Prescott (from Funny Face, Editor) :

' "To the women everywhere."               

Banish the black,

burn the blue,

and bury the beige.

From now on, girls...

Think Pink!!!! '

and that is exactly what we are going to do!!






Not keen on wearing pink, but like the colour? Dip your toe in pink with accessories. Think pink bags, necklaces, earrings, shoes and bracelets. Any shade is appropriate. Add some pizzazz to your outfit.

Combine 2 trends, pink and embellished and this creates a romantic and eye catching look. Make your look as loud as you want. Think of pretty tops with small embellishments or look for pieces with a embellished collar.

Worried that if you wear pink from head to toe that you might turn into Barbie? Try colour blocking with pink. When colour blocking go for red, orange, blue, green and yellow. If your not brave enough to pull of this look just colour block with different shades of pinks.

Another trend sweeping the runways for summer 2014 is lady like silhouettes. Look for luxe fabrics, knee length dresses and ankle length skirts. Try a pale pink when going for a lady like look. Or go for ultra chic and wear a hot pink knee length skirt and a a white sleeved top with a crisp blazer on top.

Next time you reach for black instead go for pink!!!

Its Going To Be All White!!

As natural as white may sound it is still the foundation of fashion to this day.

With the mercury slowly rising, it's time to think about what trends are going to be in this summer moving from spring to the full throttle of the sun (being summer). This refined shade makes the base of every wardrobe and flatters every single person. (no joke it does) This hue complements all skin tones but it also works well with every single shade of the colour wheel. Mixing and matching has never been made more easy.

But white from head to toe seemed like to be the obvious choice for the spring to summer transition. Designers have expressed their admiration for this lovely shade lately in the spring/summer shows in NYC. With many designers such as Valentino, Simone Rocha and Stella McCartney going for the pretty filigree fabrics.

Wearing white is like a blank canvas. You can pretty much do anything you like. Add bold, bright accessories or keep it neutral and use pastel colours. Put your own spin and own it.

Whatever you do I'am sure it will be all White!!!

Leather Harness....Hit or Miss??

Yes you read it right...a leather harness. Surprise, 'Fifty Shades of Grey' has moved onto our Spring Fashion catwalks...for now. There were quite a lot of harnesses and colourful leather-heavy looks for spring this year.

But I have to say the binding leather look is quite classy if teamed up with a sophisticated outfit of course. Some leather harnesses look chic and trendy, for example have a look at the 3 images below they look trendy and elegant. (I would have never thought that I would have used 'elegant' and 'harness' together in a sentence)

The important thing to remember is to treat this piece as an accessory. Make it blend into your outfit and match it with what your wearing. As from the examples below all of the harnesses are 'blended' into the outfit but not made the center piece, that is the key into nailing this look.

I don't think we will see people popping down to the shops in a leather harness any time soon but try it with lady like silhouettes and it might be a winner this spring.
